The GP11AL Impact Recorder
Recorda-g® GP11AL is a small, light, reusable, low-cost impact recorder which, when attached to a packaged product, will indicate the maximum shock to which the product has been subjected in transit. It will record shocks from any direction in the range 5 gn to 150 gn.
The simplicity of the Recorda-g® GP11AL virtually eliminates the risk of malfunction and allows the GP11AL to be re-used indefinitely. There are no electronics, batteries, springs, or other mechanical components. It consists basically of a very specific ink-coated engineered ball precisely fitted to a shockproof plastic housing cube. The cube is lined with a replaceable Mylar recording liner, which can be retained for record-keeping purposes. Each housing cube has two drilled tabs for mounting the GP11AL to the object to be monitored.
On impact, the ball flattens against the inside wall of the cube, leaving a circular impression on the replaceable liner - the size of which is a measure of the applied shock level.
A calibrated (MIL-STD 810E) "gn" reading template is supplied for easy measurement of the shock level impressions.
Recorda-g® can also be used to record impacts caused by forklift trucks, aircraft landings, parachute drops, rail shunts, heavy vehicles, cranes, in fact, in any situation where impact can occur.
